Nandita Kamdar has been named by Consulting-Specifying Engineer Magazine (CSE) as a 2011 40 under 40 honoree. This award is given to 40 building industry professionals age 40 and younger who stand out in their academic, professional, personal, and community achievements. |

CSE is dedicated to encouraging and recognizing the most talented young individuals in the engineering community that supports the building industry. Candidates were nominated by a professional colleague or mentor and judged based on commitment to excellence in a variety of areas. The May issue of CSE profiled each young professional. . “This year’s 40 Under 40 winners have succeeded as leaders at every level,” said Amara Rozgus, Editor-in- Chief of Consulting-Specifying Engineer. “Not only have they propelled their firms to success, they have volunteered their time at industry organizations and charity groups to support their communities. These young leaders show that the building and engineering industries have a bright future.” Nandita Kamdar, PE, CEM, LEED AP Vice President, Paulus, Sokolowski and Sartor, LLC (PS&S), Warren, N.J. Columbia University, BS Chemical Engineering; Rutgers University, MBA Project Management Ms. Kamdar joined PS&S in 1995 as a staff engineer, and her excellent technical and leadership abilities helped her rise through the ranks to her current position as Vice President. She now leads the mechanical engineering department, serving major Fortune 500 clients in the U.S. and Overseas. Ms. Kamdar also completed her MBA while working full time at PS&S. She holds PE licenses in NJ, NY, PA, CT, MA, FL, CA, and has completed the exams for National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Survey (NCEES). She is active in numerous industry organizations including, ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers, Inc.); AEE (Association of Energy Engineers); and most notably, she serves as the treasurer of the executive board for the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE), New Jersey chapter. She coordinated a joint chapter event with the Delaware ISPE last year and has presented energy case studies at the ISPE National Conference. Ms. Kamdar has worked with a number of pharmaceutical company clients. She managed the design of a $70 million renovation of a drug manufacturing facility and a $10 million renovation for a “current good manufacturing practice” (cGMP) warehouse for a diagnostics product, both for major pharmaceutical companies. Outside of her work and ISPE, she has given presentations to entry-level college students at the Raritan Valley Community College about the world of engineering and her experience as a woman engineer. She actively volunteers for the New Jersey Arthritis Foundation as part of the resource development committee. Both Ms. Kamdar’s grandmother and mother suffered severely from rheumatoid arthritis, and Nandita herself was diagnosed shortly after her mother passed away from the disease. Ms. Kamdar says that her participation in the foundation’s research fundraising gives her the opportunity to make a difference. When she’s not working hard for a good cause, Ms. Kamdar enjoys participating in a book club with her childhood friends. She loves traveling and recently returned from a trip to India. She loves spending time with her husband Samir and their sons Nikhil and Anil. She recently was named Outstanding Woman in Management in Somerset County. | |
