THE OPPORTUNITY

PS&S was engaged to support the ongoing evolution of this major New Jersey manufacturing site into a viable research/administrative campus.  This decade-old transition has also accommodated changes due to a corporate consolidation.   

 

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge was to minimize the cost of operation of the campus in its new role in order to keep it competitive with the company's other campuses world-wide.  This has involved the orderly shutdown and demolition of many on-site buildings, the optimization of the utilities and distribution systems for the reduced number of buildings, and the maintenance and adaptive re-use of the remaining facilities. 

 

THE PS&S SOLUTION

PS&S has provided on-site personnel to support facility staff for over ten years. 

PS&S has completed many larger demolition/adaptive re-use/modernization projects, including vivarium upgrades, a wide variety of laboratories, office renovations and campus support functions. 

The work was guided by master planning efforts that have resulted in the vacating of over half the area of the campus.  PS&S has participated in marketing studies geared to understand the value of divesting part of the property, as well as the environmental complexities of development and ownership transition.
