Port Imperial is generally referred to as the core of New Jersey's Gold Coast. Comprising the waterfront property from West New York to Weehawken, Port Imperial consists of approximately 5700 residential units, 100,000 sf commercial space and 1.3 million sf of office space.
Approximately 250 acres of waterfront property at the base of the Palisades sat dormant after the demise of industrial port activities along much of the New Jersey side of the Hudson River. As a brownfield site, clean up and redevelopment was encouraged under the NJDEP's rules on coastal zone management.
Extensive contamination, failing bulkheads and site accessibility necessitated a comprehensive planning effort, remediation capping and careful attention to site stability for structure support.
THE PS&S SOLUTION
PS&S provided master planning of the entire development to allow phased construction of the site. This included roadways, general building footprints, site infrastructure, landscape architecture, waterfront walkways, public parks, environmental permitting, geotechnical investigations and site remediation implementation for the project.
