Atlantic City Country Club

Atlantic City, New Jersey

Paulus, Sokolowski and Sartor (PS&S) was retained by the Atlantic City Country Club (ACCC), formerly a subsidiary of Bally's Park Place and now owned and operated by Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., to provide comprehensive environmental planning, permitting and engineering services for the creation of a links-style golf course that would feature enhanced and created freshwater and coastal wetlands as an integrated element of course design. Low value upland trees and stands of common reed blocked the original coastal wetlands view.

PS&S established a 10-acre coastal wetland via the eradication of common reed and excavation of on-site uplands, combined with the enhancement of nine acres of freshwater wetlands. The renovated 100-year-old facility currently features coastal wetlands views against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic City skyline.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife recognized the unique attributes of this project and awarded funding as part of their "Partners in Wildlife Program". The ACCC was recently named in the top 40 Resort Golf Courses in the U.S. by Golf and Leisure Magazine.

PS&S was awarded the Consulting Engineers Council of New Jersey (CECNJ) Award of Distinction in 2001 for the Atlantic City Country Club project.
