Elizabeth and Orange School Districts

Paulus, Sokolowski and Sartor (PS&S) provided a full range of services for health and safety projects for Elizabeth and Orange School Districts. The work for these two districts included site work to meet ADA access requirements, window replacement to match historical image and improve thermal performance, exterior and interior door replacement, brick repair, structural corrective work, lighting to improve classroom space, rated assemblies for means of egress, electrical switching and wiring for classrooms and providing boiler upgrading. The objective of the project was to provide for improvements that represent viable, cost effective solutions to the functional, fire/life safety, and code compliance deficiencies identified during previously conducted facility assessments at these schools. PS&S was able to balance design creativity and functionality while meeting schedules and budgets.
The scope of work included the following items:
Elizabeth Schools/Orange Schools- Upgrades to existing emergency lighting systems and fire alarm system
- Exterior skin repairs to building façade
- Replacement of interior/exterior doors and/or hardware
- Replacement of exit signs
- Repair and/or replacement of roofs, gutters and roof leaders
- Ventilation system and boiler upgrades
- Generator replacement
- Replacement of classroom lighting and stair tower doors and windows
- Upgrades to electrical wiring and distribution systems
- Installation of rated enclosure
- Evaluation of corridor widths and emergency egress
- Boiler and burner assembly testing and evaluation
