THE OPPORTUNITY

PS&S worked with the Camden County Department of Parks and then Coopers Ferry Partnership (now Camden Community Partnership) to evaluate the feasibility of integrating a fishing pier adjacent to the existing RCA Pier to provide for recreational opportunities.

The Original RCA Pier was recently upgraded as a public space along the Delaware River. The hope and intention of the “Fishing Pier” addition is to open the opportunity to the water for residents and recreation.

THE CHALLENGE

In addition to the newly renovated RCA Pier, there exist two structures in close proximity to the renovated Pier that were previously constructed for another purpose – which has since been abandoned. Utilizing the existing structures: referred to as the “Dog Bone” and the “pedestal” there is a desire to incorporate a public design, fishing pier and art element into the project.

THE PS&S SOLUTION

The PS&S Team, together with our guiding stakeholders will work toward a fishing pier design, situated adjacent to and accessible from the RCA Pier and will complement it with artistic lighting and art elements as an attraction to both the City residents, workers and visitors as well as the Philadelphia view from across the river.
