To provide master planning for a vivarium expansion, laboratory and office support areas.
In order to optimize the site usage, the scope of this project included several necessary road relocations and parking modifications. Multistory blocking and stacking were also required to optimize the site use.
THE PS&S SOLUTION
PS&S prepared a site master plan for the expansion of the laboratory, office and vivarium spaces. The vivarium supported three research campuses for the reproductive, neurological, and cancer teams, providing them with a wide variety of therapeutic research needs. Acoustical and containment features were part of this master plan. Species included small rodent, large rodent, canine, and non-human primates.
In addition to colony rooms and procedure rooms the master plan addressed the following items:
- Separated loading docks for species
- Separated surgical suits
- Biosafety level two BSL 2 suite
- Cage and rack washing expansion
- Transgenic Suite
- Drug prep room – potent compounds
- MRI and x-ray requirements
- Water systems
- Expanded utilities
- Office expansion
- Lab expansion
