THE OPPORTUNITY

The existing 65 gpm Summerhill Pump Station was at the end of its useful life and beyond rehabilitation. The pump station served a quiet residential area in the Authorities Stage 1/2 Service Area, providing sanitary service to approximately 16 homes.

THE CHALLENGE

The site was very small and constrained by surrounding properties which made decommissioning and installing the new pump station and equipment difficult. The existing pump station needed to be on bypass and have continuous operation during the new construction. In addition, the existing backup generator needed to be relocated while maintaining operations.

THE PS&S SOLUTION

PS&S performed a detailed design, site survey, and created Contract Specifications for the new wet well, valve vault, controls, transfer switch, pumps, and replacement of existing JCP&L transformer. The project was publicly bid in accordance with NJ local public contract law and successfully completed.

Through careful Contractor coordination and scheduling the project was successfully completed on the small project site with minimal disturbance to the surrounding neighborhood all while maintaining operations.
