THE OPPORTUNITY
PS&S provided site civil engineering design services for the reconstruction of Fairview Avenue, New England Terrace and a portion of Cleveland Street in Orange Township, NJ. This was a NJDOT Local Aid project.
THE CHALLENGE
Given the urban environment, each of these streets is densely populated with lots of 50 feet frontage. The City directed PS&S to provide engineering design for complete curb and sidewalk replacement and repaving.
It was necessary to phase the curb and sidewalk construction in a fashion that allowed property owners, along the streets, access to their homes as construction progressed. Curb and sidewalks were designed for compatibility with existing access walks and driveways.

Base mapping
Interfacing with the Orange Engineering Department for design reviews
Complete construction documents for road, sidewalk and curb reconstruction, milling and paving
Construction observation
Project accounting
Project closeout
The projects were completed on time and within budget.
