WARREN MUNICIPAL COMPLEX BASEBALL FIELD IMPROVEMENTS
LOCATION: WARREN, NJ
CLIENT: TOWNSHIP OF WARREN
MARKET SECTOR: PUBLIC
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Township of Warren sought to improve five (5) of their existing baseball and softball fields located within the municipal complex at 46 Mountain Boulevard, Warren, New Jersey. The project consisted of replacing the current infield mix using the new Beam Clay Medium Infield mix manufactured by Partac Peat Corporation for four (4) baseball and softball fields. In addition, the project included converting one (1) baseball field from a clay infield into a grass infield. Furthermore, the project also included minor re-grading and drainage improvements. The proposed baseball and softball fields were designed using the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS) Standards.
THE CHALLENGE
The challenge of this project was selecting the correct infield mix for the level of softball and baseball being played at the municipal complex and determining the cost and maintenance associated with each mix.
THE PS&S SOLUTION
To achieve the client’s budget constraints for this project, PS&S worked closely with the Township of Warren officials from the conceptual design, design development, and construction phase. Also, PS&S staff was in constant communication with multi-infield mix manufacturers discussing cost, color, mix specification, and maintenance requirements. PS&S prepared construction documents, including specifications, and the project was issued for bid in February 2022. Construction began in June 2022 and is expected to be completed by August 2022. PS&S also helped the Township of Warren with the front-end documents such as bidders notice, checklist, forms, the scope of the contract, bidder information forms, contract, and supplemental conditions. During the bid process, PS&S secured the required permits for the project’s construction. During construction, PS&S assisted the Township and contractor by reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFI’s, and participating in construction meetings.
