Dear Friends of PS&S: As spring takes hold, I find myself reflecting on the momentum that has shaped PS&S in recent months and the opportunities ahead.
This season brought recognition that belongs, above all, to our people. Being named the 2026 ENR New York Design Firm of the Year is one of the highest honors in our industry, and it reflects what our teams deliver every day. ENR’s editors base this award on growth, performance, innovation, and community commitment, values we work to demonstrate in our projects and relationships. What sets PS&S apart is how our teams support clients and communities with consistency and care.
We have also continued to grow in ways that strengthen our regional presence and technical depth. In North Carolina, the acquisition of Priest Craven & Associates, a civil engineering and surveying firm based in Raleigh, provides an immediate foothold in the Research Triangle, a region experiencing steady growth. Closer to home, we expanded our South Jersey presence through the addition of key staff and services from Marathon Engineering, enhancing our civil engineering capabilities and reinforcing our ability to serve clients with strong local insight and responsiveness. Together, these efforts position us to support developers, municipalities, and communities across an even broader geographic footprint.
At the same time, work across our Cultural Resources team continues to highlight another important part of what we do. Through public engagement and ongoing archaeological efforts, our team is helping bring forward stories that connect communities to their history in meaningful ways.
As we look ahead, I am proud not only of our professional accomplishments but also of the way our teams give back. Initiatives like the PS&S Cares Animal Shelter Donation Drive, taking place across our offices, reflect a shared commitment to the communities we serve. Thank you for being part of what drives PS&S forward. |

PS&S Architects and Planners has been named the 2026 ENR New York Design Firm of the Year by Engineering News-Record, one of the industry’s top honors. The award recognizes growth, performance, innovation, and community commitment. PS&S will be featured in the May 26 issue of ENR East alongside the regional Top Design Firm ranking, which includes firms across 14 states and Washington, D.C.
Highlighted projects include the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Village in Tinton Falls, NJ—a $29 million, 70-unit affordable housing development for veterans that integrates workforce support, wellness services, and sustainable design.
This recognition reflects the strength of PS&S’ teams, whose work consistently delivers technically sound, cost-effective solutions aligned with client goals. The firm has also been named one of NJBIZ’s Best Places to Work. |
PS&S has acquired Priest Craven & Associates, Inc., a Raleigh, North Carolina-based civil engineering and surveying firm with more than 40 years of experience supporting residential and commercial development across the Research Triangle.
Founded in 1983, the firm brings expertise in civil engineering, site planning, and surveying, with a portfolio spanning single-family, multifamily, office, and retail projects throughout the Raleigh-Durham region.
With established client relationships and deep regional knowledge, the addition of Priest Craven provides PS&S with an immediate presence in one of the country’s most active growth markets while expanding the firm’s multidisciplinary capabilities, including life sciences, energy, utility, and environmental services.
The team will continue to operate from its Raleigh office, which will serve as PS&S’ North Carolina hub and support continued growth across the Southeast. |
Expanding PS&S Reach in South Jersey |
PS&S continues to build on its regional strength with a strategic expansion in South Jersey through the addition of key staff and services from Marathon Engineering. This transition enhances our civil engineering, environmental, and surveying capabilities and deepens our presence in a market where we see continued growth and opportunity.
The integration brings experienced professionals with strong local relationships and technical expertise, allowing us to further support municipal, institutional, and private clients throughout the region. It also reinforces our commitment to providing responsive, on-the-ground service backed by the full strength of our multidisciplinary team.
This move reflects a broader focus on thoughtful growth, expanding in ways that strengthen our teams, enhance client service, and position us to deliver more comprehensive solutions across New Jersey and beyond. |
Celebrating African American History |
PS&S is proud to highlight recent work from our Cultural Resources team, who have been actively engaging communities and helping bring important stories of African American history to life across New Jersey.
During Black History Month, our archaeologists partnered with Cherry Hill Township to host a public archaeology weekend at Croft Farm. Nearly 300 attendees joined our team to explore a site representing over 5,000 years of history, including its connection to the Underground Railroad and the story of Joshua Saddler, a freed man who established one of the region’s earliest Black communities prior to the Civil War.
We were also honored to participate in Perth Amboy’s celebration of Thomas Mundy Peterson Day, recognizing Thomas Mundy Peterson and his lasting impact on American democracy as the first African American to exercise the right to vote under the 15th Amendment. In the near future, PS&S will be conducting an archaeological study where Mr. Peterson’s house was historically located. PS&S’s Matt Tomaso joined state and local leaders in commemorating this important milestone.
These efforts reflect our commitment to preserving history, supporting community engagement, and ensuring these stories continue to inform and inspire future generations. |
Supporting Local Animal Shelters |
Our offices came together this spring in support of local animal shelters across the regions we serve. From April 1 through April 23, PS&S employees collected each organization’s most-needed items, helping provide comfort, care, and essential resources for animals awaiting adoption.
Donations were gathered at designated locations across our offices, including food, supplies, and everyday necessities that directly support shelter operations. Together, we collected and donated 217 items and $140 to local animal charities, making a paw-some impact on the lives of animals in need and bringing comfort as they wait for their furever homes. |
