New Jersey SHARES Appoints New Members to Board of Directors

New Jersey SHARES, Inc., a statewide nonprofit corporation aiding individuals and families who have trouble meeting their energy and utility burden, has appointed four new members to its Board of Directors.

The newly appointed members are Jenny S. Davis of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Ulises E. Diaz of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Chris James of MBI and John A. Sartor of PS&S.

“We are thrilled to welcome these four talented leaders to our Board of Directors,” said Cheryl B. Stowell, CEO, New Jersey SHARES. “Their insight and combined years of expertise in their respective fields will be a great asset to our nonprofit organization as we continue to serve our New Jersey neighbors in need.”

PS&S attended NJ Alliance For Action’s event recognizing NJ's Leading Infrastructure Projects on Wednesday, February 6th, 2019.

PS&S was present and accepted the Alliance for Action Infrastructure Award for our efforts on Atlantic City Electric's Orchard to Lewis Transmission Line Rebuild Project. PS&S groups involved included Survey, Remediation, Environmental Permitting, Civil, Cultural Resources, GIS, Hydrogeology, Architecture.

 

Scott Salmon Participates in NYSBA Annual Meeting Panel

 

Scott Salmon participated in a panel discussion at the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) Environmental & Energy Law Section regarding Ethical Issues in Environmental Due Diligence on Friday, January 18, 2019.

The panel discussed ethical cases studies involving an attorney’s and an engineer’s ethical obligation under their respective Code of Ethics. The panel counts as 1.0 credits in ethics for NYMCLE.

The 2019 NYSBA Annual Meeting took place from January, 14th to the 18th at New York Hilton Midtown in New York City.

PS&S is excited to announce that it has officially moved its Long Island office to Mineola.

 

PS&S Attends Reorganization Celebrations in the start of 2019

 

PS&S is pleased to attend and support a number of reorganization celebrations to start off the year.

On January 5th, 2019, PS&S attended the 93rd Annual Reorganization and Installment of Officers for the Borough of Lawnside.  Very proud to be among the supporters in attendance as Mayor Mary Ann Wardlow is sworn in by Congressman Donald Norcross

January 7th, 2019 - PS&S joined in the Celebration of Congressman Andy Kim, newly elected in the NJ 3rd Congressional District on Monday. Andy Kim took the time to speak with his supporters and constituents of his vision and commitment to the district and the Country.

PS&S's Marge DellaVecchia also attended the Swearing in of Elected Freeholders in Camden County as well as the County’s Reorganization Meeting. She is pleased to be a part of the Camden County Team of professionals who were joined by Mayor Teri Brunella, Mayor of Brooklawn, Camden County to watch as Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli is sworn in as Director and Freeholder Edward T. McDonnell is sworn in as Deputy Director. Also taking the oaths of office were Freeholder Jeffrey Nash, Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo and Freeholder William Moen, Jr.

PS&S was also pleased to be in attendance as Cherry Hill Council President David Fleisher and Council Vice President Sara Lipsett were sworn into office by Cherry Hill Mayor Chuck Cahn.

PS&S Awarded Honorable Mention Winner 2018 Education Design

 

PS&S was awarded Honorable Mention Winner 2018 Education Design Showcase by the School Planning & Management (SP&M) and College Planning & Management (CP&M) Education Design Showcase for P.S. 583 The Bronx Lab School for Historical Discovery.

The SP&M | CP&M Education Design Showcase was established in1999 as a means to share innovative, yet practical, solutions in planning, design and construction.

All projects in the Education Design Showcase are reviewed by a panel of experts. Grand Prize and Honorable Mentions are awarded to the most outstanding projects.

The judges shared the following comments:

 “They accomplished a lot on a very limited site. There is thoughtful placement of rooms and views. The entry area is controlled, yet inviting. The project has a human touch.”

PS&S Contributes to Local Food Drives

 

We thank everyone at our PS&S offices who contributed to local food drives in their region.

Our Cherry Hill office collected about 182 pounds of food and participated in the Preston and Steve's Camp Out for Hunger this year. The Preston and Steve Show is a local Philadelphia radio morning show that supports anything and everything local. Their donations to the Philabundance Organization over the past years has helped feed thousands of local Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey families.

Our Warren office collected around 180 pounds of food for the Food Bank Network of Somerset County. What a great way of making sure that our less fortunate friends have a wonderful holiday season as well.

 

PS&S Attends Project Freedom Groundbreaking - Gibbsboro

 

New Affordable Housing Unit in Camden County Breaks Ground

Brand new affordable housing will soon be available in Gibbsboro. On Monday, December 10th, state and local officials broke ground on Freedom Village.

The 72-unit affordable rental community will include 18 units for residents with special needs.

The project, which is being built by officials with the nonprofit housing developer, Project Freedom, will feature elevators, wider doors and hallways, open floor plans and a community center. Some units will even have accessible kitchens and roll-in showers.

"It would be disabled and non-disabled families that can live here," said Susan Shin Angulo, freeholder, Camden County. "More importantly, it will give disabled individuals the freedom to live by themselves." The development is being built on seven acres on South Lakeview Drive and will include four three-story buildings, and a community center. Residents are expected to begin moving in around this time next year.

 

PS&S Takes Part in Operation Santa Claus

 

Yonkers residents kicked off the holiday season Sunday by giving back to the county¹s services for people with disabilities.

The annual Operation Santa Claus holiday brunch is celebrating its twentieth year of fundraising for several different organizations that assist developmentally disabled individuals.

Back in November, the organization announced $20,000 in grants to such organizations, including the Westchester School for Special Children and the New York Creative Arts Therapy Foundation.

“All of these organizations are on the front lines,” says Nick Spano, Honor Chairman of Operation Santa Claus. “Every one of them provides critical services for people with disabilities. Whether it be educational services or art in music therapy or any type of rehabilitative care that is so necessary.”

 

Phase III of Saw Mill River Daylighting Officially Opens

Our Daylighting of the Saw Mill River project is officially in the third phase. On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano officially opened Phase III of the Daylighting of the Saw Mill River at New Main Street where the City unearthed another portion of the Saw Mill River, constructed a 1.25-acre park, and improved river water quality and plant/aquatic life.

PS&S attended the 2018 ISPE Annual Meeting & Expo that was held from November 4th to the 7th at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA.

 

PS&S Supports 2018 Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge

 

PS&S was a silver sponsor for the annual Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge that took place on Sunday, November 4th.

PS&S also helped hand out water to runners on the second half of the run.

PS&S attended the 14th Annual New Jersey Association for Floodplain Management Conference & Exhibition. It was held on October 23rd to the 25th this year in Atlantic City, New Jersey. PS&S was happy to be a gold sponsor for the NJAFM 2018 annual conference.

 

PS&S Supports Checking For Charity Golf Outing

On October 13th, PS&S was a hole in one sponsor for the “Checking for Charity” annual golf outing. The funds raised from this golf outing are awarded to the charities of each hockey team’s choice in the “Checking for Charity” hockey tournament. PS&S’ Mark Allen plays in their hockey tournament every year and helps run this golf outing.
